Emperor penguins live in Antarctica, the coldest place on Earth. After the mother lays one egg, the father balances it on his feet and covers it with a warm flap of skin so it does not freeze. He stands like this for about two months through the icy winter, and he does not eat the whole time while he waits for the egg to hatch.
