How Much Bamboo Does a Panda Eat?

Giant pandas live in the mountain forests of China, and they eat almost nothing but bamboo. A grown-up panda spends about 14 hours a day eating and can munch through 12 kilograms of bamboo, about as heavy as a big bag of potatoes. Bamboo has very little goodness in it, so a panda has to eat a huge amount just to get enough energy.
