How Far Away Is the Moon?

The Moon is about 384,400 kilometres away from Earth. That is so far that if you could drive a car on a highway to the Moon at 100 kilometres per hour, it would take you about 160 days to get there! Scientists have measured this distance using special lasers bounced off mirrors that astronauts left on the Moon.
